Ugly Duckling is not your typical rap group. Just like "The Ugly Duckling" from the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale of the same name the trio does not fit into today's rap clichés. Ugly Duckling are rather known for their old school attitude: Fun is the main factor represented in the lyrics of Andy Cooper and Dizzy Dustin, while Young Einstein provides lots of cuts and scratches. The only thing they have in common with gangsta rap is their hometown Long Beach, which is mostly associated with Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound. In 1999 Ugly Duckling first emerged on the scene with their EP "Fresh Mode". Since then they have built a strong fanbase, partly owed to their great live shows. In January 2009 the trio released "Audacity", their fourth studio album.
